AIC has successfully completed the upgrade of the rolling mill at Rodacciai’s Sirone plant, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing modernization process.
The scope of the project included the relocation of two existing DC drives cabinets upgraded for reaching a safety Performance Level D and suited to control 2 new Stands (H+V), ensuring enhanced safety and operational efficiency.
AIC also supplied motor and AC drive for the upstream pinch roll, while all the mechanical supply being provided by Danieli.
As part of the upgrade, AIC delivered:
- Equipment for access control to the safety areas
- Local control stations for the stands
- Automation upgrade for the rolling mill contol.
The upgraded automation system is based on a RACS AIC cascade control system and enables the rolling of larger billets compared to those processed prior to this intervention.
The completion of this phase underscores AIC’s commitment to providing advanced automation solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the steel industry.
